The matchmaking tries very hard to not have you battle the same guild repeatedly, but sometimes it's the only option available.

This can happen when there are not many guilds to battle against or when others have fought them more recently. So while it’s not ideal, it can happen.

While uncommon, you may encounter the same guild again within your next 7 battles as well.
